The 5th International Congress on Food Safety and Quality entitled "Safe Food, Today and Tomorrow" was held from November 6 to 9, 2024 in Poreč/Croatia.
The 5th International Congress on Food Safety and Quality entitled "Safe Food, Today and Tomorrow" was held from November 6 to 9, 2024 in Poreč/Croatia. At the Congress, new contaminants in food were discussed, the topics of food disposal, reduction of food waste and the opening of a food bank were brought up to date, as well as the importance of controlling objects and materials that come into contact with food. There was talk about the safety of food of animal origin with an emphasis on microbiological contamination and challenges in preventing their occurrence and spread.
The congress was intended for all food producers, distributors and professional and scientific institutions dealing with food risk analysis and assessment, as well as all stakeholders of the food safety chain "from field to table". Alen Župan and Nataša Radulović participated in the work of the congress.
The paper "Prepare for the unexpected: Norms, procedures, and regulatory requirements against microbiological challenges (risks) in food preparation and distribution" was presented in front of DOBRI DOM, and we actively participated in the work of the round table on the topic "Reducing food waste and the donation system food", for the maintenance of which we gave the initiative, of which she was the moderator Izv. prof. dr. sc. Jasna Bošnir, dipl. san. ing, Nastavni zavod za javno zdravstvo „Dr. Andrija Štampar“.

Jasmina Ranilović, dipl. ing., direktor projekata i primijenjenih istraživanja, Podravka d.d.; Ana Marija Crnić, dipl. ing., Gradski ured za socijalnu zaštitu, zdravstvo, branitelje i osobe s invaliditetom, Grad Zagreb i Alen Župan, mag. soc. gerontologije, ravnatelj Ustanove „Dobri dom“ Grada Zagreba.
And on this occasion, we showed that all the professional and valuable activities of DOBRI DOM employees (direct and indirect during the preparation, distribution and delivery of meals) have been aimed, for more than 20 years, at improving and preserving the health of the individual, family and community, as well as prevention by applying hygienic - sanitary measures as well as raising the level of public health awareness, attitudes and behaviour of all stakeholders in the daily work of the institution.
