HELP FOR HOMELESS PEOPLE IN THE CITY OF ZAGREB IN WINTER CONDITIONS

Due to the cold weather conditions, we would like to remind you that the City of Zagreb provides accommodation and support to the homeless. Overnight accommodation is available at Ilica 29 (20 beds) and in Kosnica (44 beds). In addition to overnight accommodation, users are provided with a dry or hot meal and a hot drink, and users of the overnight accommodation in Ilica also receive coupons for using the Diana Public Bath. Counseling with social workers is also available, as well as assistance in exercising rights and finding more permanent accommodation, especially for the elderly.

The City of Zagreb also provides accommodation for around 115 homeless people in shelters in Velika Kosnica and Sesvetski Kraljevec, where users have access to food, health care, social inclusion and other necessary activities. There are currently 46 places available, and in the event of extreme winter conditions, an additional 26 beds can be provided.

In 2025, the City also supported a new housing community service for the homeless, which provides people who have experienced homelessness with a new start in a safe environment, with professional support aimed at employment and independence.

Food is also provided through soup kitchens at the locations of Branimirova 35, Alfirevićeva 6 and Cerska 3, as well as through additional programs for the homeless and socially vulnerable citizens.

Since 2023, the homeless have also been provided with systematic check-ups.

For all the above services, 2,775,000 euros have been provided in the Budget of the City of Zagreb.
