For the 11th year in a row, the City of Zagreb has been preparing and distributing 60,000 servings of May Day bean stew on the occasion of the International Labour Day at Maksimir Park, where Zagreb residents and visitors to Zagreb spend their time with an appropriate cultural art program and free servings of sausage beans, bacon and dried salami from 10 am until 6:30 pm.

The City of Zagreb institution Dobri dom provided the following for all visitors:

  • on-call duty of three emergency medical teams,
  • > 3 drinking water tanks,
  • > 30 stands for distribution of beans stew (15 dividing points),
  • > 90 benches as eating points,
  • > 30 sanitary toilets and 2 sanitary facilities for the disabled,
  • Waste management: 70 municipal mixed waste bins, 8 PVC waste bins, 8 paper waste bins, 74 municipal mixed waste bins, 74 PVC waste bins, 74 paper waste bins (cleaning of the Maksimir Park will be carried out by “Čistoća").

The event included more than 100 employees of the City of Zagreb, the City Office for Social Welfare and People with Disabilities, the City of Zagreb institution Dobri dom, the City Red Cross Society of Zagreb, Pleter usluge Ltd. and the Homes for the Elderly and Disabled in Zagreb participate in the distribution of 60,000 servings of bean stew.

For the preparation of 60,000 servings of May Bean stew, the City of Zagreb institution Dobri dom and its partners will use the following items:

  • 6 tons of beans
  • 4.2 tons of sausages
  • 2.7 tonnes of dried salami
  • 2.7 tons of pancetta
  • 600 kg of onions
  • 50 kg of garlic...

And other ingredients needed for the meal preparation.

Supplies and utensils are also provided along with 60,000 bakery products.
